My New Book: From Simi Valley To Silicon Valley
The inspiration to write this book came from wanting to figure out the best way to give my wife and eight children a book on my/our life journey so far. It was meant as a kind of time capsule of these first 43 years. The book captures the life events, the ups and downs, and the moments — expected and unexpected — where serendipity happened and changed my entire life trajectory. This is ultimately a gift of my love for them and their future families.
As the publishing and editing teams started reviewing the book, I was highly encouraged to make it available to a broader audience, as it was filled with unique experiences and life lessons that were valuable for a much larger group of people than just my family. I agreed, and so, here we are!
To write a book and share it more broadly, especially one so personal, you need a healthy dose of humility and to be comfortable with vulnerability. When you look back on your life and try to really capture the stories and essence of what shaped the person you are today, it is a humbling experience.
I hope you get a chance to read this book and share it with people around you that you feel it would help. Take from it the lessons that help and resonate with you. It shows that in this great country, you can indeed still live the American dream. To go from the son of an immigrant, to building a loving and enduring family, to being in the halls of Silicon Valley’s most important companies, I’m proof that you can do anything in life — if you’re open to serendipity!
If you feel so inclined, you can also leave a review for others on Amazon so they can have your impressions of the book.
My book is: From Simi Valley to Silicon Valley: A Story of Hard Work, Serendipity, and Questing.
Please read and share with me your thoughts as you do. I love to see pictures of you with the book as well that I can share with the family. You can reach me at SVtoSV@gillett.org which goes right to my inbox. Enjoy the read and journey!
